The Family Prayer Ministry

The Family Prayer Ministry is a community of believers united in Christ, dedicated to harnessing the power of collective prayer to fulfill God's will on earth as it is in heaven. Through our shared faith and commitment, we strive to see God's purposes realized in and through our lives.

Just as Paul called upon believers from various churches to aid the Judean saints in their time of need, this ministry provides a way for believers to combine their prayer efforts to address the current needs of today's Christian Family.

"For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father."

— Ephesians 2:18 (KJV)

We believe in the power of personal prayer, the strength of united prayer, and the wisdom of countering Satan's strategies with Spirit-led calls to prayer warfare. We warmly invite all like-minded Christians to join this joyful army of intercessors, as led by the Lord. Your cheerful participation is welcome!

A Biblical Model for Organized Relief

In about the year 45 AD, the prophet Agabus travelled from Jerusalem to the Church in Antioch and signified by the Spirit that a major famine would occur in the Judean region during the reign of Claudius Caesar. This prophecy proved true. The disciples in Antioch, deeply moved by the coming hardship upon their brethren, committed themselves to combining their resources and bringing relief.

"Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea."

— Acts 11:29 (KJV)

Many Christians from several churches contributed according to their ability, demonstrating a unified and compassionate response to pressing need. Paul's dedication to organizing this relief extended to the churches in Galatia, Macedonia, Achaia, and every church within his reach.

These first-century events established a framework of principles that guides Christians in every generation. At the Family Prayer Ministry, we believe that if Paul and the early saints were intentional about organizing financial relief for uniquely burdened members of the Family of God, then an organized effort to harness the grace of corporate prayer for the relief of particularly burdened brethren is well within the norms of apostolic Christianity.

What This Ministry Is Not

In the spirit of transparent clarity, we wish to address what the Family Prayer Ministry is not, so that our purpose and boundaries are well understood.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Not About Biological Families

While we earnestly support Christian families praying together, the word "Family" in Family Prayer Ministry refers to the spiritually constituted Family of God — brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus throughout the world.

🏛️

Not a Parachurch Organization

This ministry neither pursues a structural framework nor seeks to function as anything other than a facilitator of a simple spiritual concept: harnessing the strength of united prayer for the benefit of God's Family and the advancement of His kingdom.

🤝

No Ecclesiastical Authority

This ministry disavows any ecclesiastical authority within any local church. We affirm the Lordship of Jesus over every local church and the expression of His authority through His delegated local leaders.

🙏

Respects Local Church Leadership

This ministry does not seek to function among believers in any local church where the leadership is not comfortable with our vision and purpose. We will always operate in transparent harmony with local church leadership.

Additionally

This ministry never appeals for funds. It has no official board. It is not located in a building or specific geographic location. It offers no counseling services. It does not impose strict rules or regulations on its participants beyond an interest in restricting participation to individuals who share our understanding of essential Christian beliefs. Local pastors are charged with the supervision and care of their flocks, and this ministry will not go beyond its proper function.

Our Commitment

This ministry earnestly supports the concept of local churches and respects the jurisdictional authority of their divinely appointed leadership. We will always seek to function with transparent clarity in harmony with the leadership of any church which allows its members to be connected to this ministry.

The Family Prayer Ministry, alongside Paul, aims to embody the meekness and gentleness of Christ. It emphasizes the genuine love we share for one another and steers clear of any approach that resembles coercing participation. We understand that just as God loves a cheerful giver, He also desires joyful intercessors.
